I looked into Tesla's work on transmitting electrical energy without wires to the entire globe. This was amazing and very educational reading. Tesla wanted to provide the entire world with electricity so that everyone on the surface of the globe could obtain electrical light just by sticking wires into the soil and a electrical bulb would light.
I can't help but think, that sounds a little scary. I'm wondering if it is stable or safe for everyone. If we are emitting electrical current into the ground, wouldn't it affect the vegetables we grow and eventually us?
On a more natural side, Tesla did mention getting power from water, like Niagra Falls. I know they are using his concept of telephone and telegraph communications, which is the foundation of today's fast growing development of international and intercontinental wireless communications.
This amazing Tesla Tower was erected in Long Island, New York in the early 1900's (187 feet high, the spherical top was 68 feet in diameter), which was to be used for his "World Wireless". But sadly, it was never finished. I suppose Tesla could be considered the "Pioneer" of today's wireless world.
Perhaps the real reason was because the government wouldn't know how to regulate it or couldn't harness it to make there fair share? It all comes down to politics you know.
Some U.S. State Governors have proclaim July 10th as "Nikola Tesla Day".
